For fifty years, "GUN" kept "Shadow" in a dense stasis within a top-secret underground facility. Suddenly, Shadow awakens, breaks out of the place, and this forces the director (Krysten Ritter) to interrupt her family barbecue to call upon the help of "Team Sonic."

Our beloved blue hedgehog, "Sonic," along with his best pals "Tails" and "Knuckles," has been enjoying a peaceful life with "Tom" (James Marsden) and "Maddie" (Tika Sumpter). But when this new challenge arises, they must step up once again to save the day.

The biggest surprise comes when they discover their new enemy—a fellow hedgehog! But this one isn’t as charming or fun as Sonic. Who is he? Why does he harbor so much hatred toward humanity? The mystery deepens when the mastermind behind it all turns out to be none other than the most dangerous version of "Robotnik" ever seen.

Now, Sonic and his team must come together to form an alliance. But will this newfound unity be strong enough to overcome the odds stacked against them?

The film starts with some fun and thrilling action sequences, showcasing the unique abilities of each character. However, as the story progresses, it leans heavily into emotional and sentimental territory. The character of "Robotnik," portrayed brilliantly by Jim Carrey, is both impactful and entertaining. Still, the audience knows from the start that no matter how menacing or evil the villain might be, he isn’t going to win. This predictability slightly undermines the tension in the story.

Despite this, the movie offers several contemporary and sarcastic dialogues that bring plenty of laughs. It also pays homage to iconic franchises like "007," "Fantastic Four," and "The Avengers." However, the overall narrative feels too polished and somewhat predictable, which takes away from its originality.
